Marxist feminism, also known as socialist feminism, is feminism focused on investigating and explaining the ways in which, it is hypothesized, women are oppressed through systems of capitalism and private property。 According to Marxist feminists, women's liberation can only be achieved through a radical restructuring of the current capitalist economy, in which, they contend, much of women's labor is uncompensated。(Ferguson, A。 & Hennessy, 2010)

2。 The second wave of feminism and female self-realization in 1970s文献综述
The historical background of Everything I Never Told You was set up in the 1960s and 1970s, which coincides with the outbreak of the second feminist movement。 To some extent, the second feminist movement is regarded as the inheritance and development of the first feminist movement。 And the first feminist movement began in the 1880s but subsided in the 1920s。 With the women in white middle class being the main force, the movement aimed to liberate women and grant them with the corresponding political rights。 In 1919, the Nineteenth Amendment to the Constitution of the United States of America came into effect and 26 million women thus gained their suffrage rights, which were marked as the climax of the first feminist movement。 However, with the prosperous economic development in the 1920s, more and more women began to indulge in material comforts, rather than the pursuit of women's social status and rights。 In addition, some organizations supporting the feminist movement gradually dismissed because of conflicts in opinions。 Hence, the first feminist movement ended up in silence。 Although the first feminist movement does make some achievements, it still has some defects。 For instance, the leading class is quite single while majority of members are white middle class women with minds of discrimination and exclusionism。 Moreover, the movement actually did not focus on the fairness problems in family marriage system, sexual relationship, baby bearing and raising and other aspects at a deeper level。 Therefore, women needed a new feminist movement to further improve women’s image and status。
