According to these different definitions, it is clear that human language is not an isolated phenomenon but a social activity that is closely related with social culture. Language exists for the purpose of human communication because of its particularity in our daily life. Therefore, language is a system of signs that is seen as having itself a cultural value.
What is culture? The word “culture” originates form the Latin word “cultura”. It has varied meanings in different times with the development and progress of human society. In the thirteenth century, it meant “piece of tilled and cultivation” In the fifteenth century, it meant “cultivation of the mind, manners, and so on”. In the nineteenth century, its meaning gradually referred to the spiritual world to mean “a type of civilization”.
