     Becky Sharp came from the bottom of the British society and parents have been dead since she was very young, so she had to live her own life through part-time work。 After leaving school, she began her own journey, struggling with reality。 As a very ordinary mentor, by inviting everyone she met, she created the opportunity to enter the upper class one by one to change the fate。 After several setbacks and failures, Becky has finally become a social butterfly that attracts a number of men in high society。 At the end of the novel, Becky made a deceptive act against Joseph。 After winning the good news, she began to squeeze this stupid taxpayer, and finally died。 No matter how hard she was, she had no fame, status, money and love。 She was drowned by the upper class。

     Becky's life is full of ups and downs。 The desire of her heart is always unparalleled, but can not be achieved。 Therefore, this desire is destined to be suppressed, and also cause her tragic ending。 Things are impermanent, and Thackeray has given out such a feeling for many times (Lindner 564)。 However, all the helplessness and sighs can not prove anything。 The temptation of fame and fortune makes people pursue them at all costs , and even hurt their loved ones and friends, and ultimately make themselves into the abyss。
