    The objective of English reading skills for the students of middle school in the new English curriculum standard is as follows: having the ability to obtain main information and ideas from general literature articles; having the ability to infer, recognize and guess the meaning of new words from the context; having the ability to reason out and predict the development of the plot; can understand the reading material of ordinary style; having the ability to apply reading strategies according to different reading objective; having the ability to look for required information through various channels. Therefore, how to explore some reading strategies of foreign language reading has become an important task for the study of foreign language teaching methods. In this article, some reading theories and reading strategies provided can be helpful to develop middle school students’ linguistic ability and improve their reading efficiency.
    Research results show that the reading process is not a simple process of information transmission or readers passively receiving information, but readers constantly to decode visual information, processing and processing process, which involving the readers’ prediction mechanism. So it is very necessary for middle school students to learn reading strategy.
