摘要词汇学习是英语学习的一个至关重要的步骤,是获得英语学习技巧的基础。然而,在中国,低效的词汇学习策略是制约高中生英语成绩的关键因素,因此在词汇学习中,他们自发的运用各种词汇学习策略。并且,《普通高中课程标准试验教科书》明确提出要加强学习策略教学,让学生养成良好的学习习惯和形成有效地学习策略,为他们的未来发展和终身学习鉴定良好的基础。本文调查了我国高中生英语词汇学习策略的使用情况,旨在探讨高中生英语词汇学习策略运用的总体特征,以使对不同层次的学生提供策略指导,进而提高高中阶段英语学习的效率。40678

Abstract Vocabulary learning play a crucial role in English language knowledge, and is thefoundation of all English language skills. However,in China inefficiency of vocabulary learning strategies is the key factor leading to high school students poor performance, so they spontaneous use all kinds of vocabulary learning strategies in vocabulary learning. What’s more, the English Curriculum Criteria particularly emphasizes the teaching of learning strategies to get students to form good study habits and develop their learning strategies effectively in order to lay a good foundation for their future development and life-long learning. This paper is conducted to find out the lexical learning strategies employed by Chinese common senior high school students so as to enhance their English learning competence and to improve its quality fully as well.

I.Introduction
Words are the building blocks in English language learning. No one can master all the vocabulary in a language. What can be done is to get certain strategies to speed up the acquisition of new words. Therefore the study of vocabulary learning strategies is requirement naturally as an important step in the second language acquisition. Vocabulary is one of the three essential elements (the other two are phonetics and grammar) of a language, and it is very important for people’s communication and language learning, which plays an important role in the whole process of second language acquisition. If the second language learners cannot make a breakthrough in vocabulary learning, the lack of vocabulary will prevent learners from developing language skills such as listening, reading and writing. Many researchers claim that the close relationship between vocabulary knowledge and second language proficiency. Coady (1993) carried out two experiments which showed that increased proficiency in vocabulary also led to an increase in reading proficiency. Wilkins (1978) and McCarthy (1990) affirmed that vocabulary was the center of second language acquisition.
