Abstract
Although in Oliver Twist, Nancy as a character does not have an outstanding position in the novel, it is one of the very key character in the works. From a minor character Nancy, the paper aims to make a comprehensive analysis of her personality traits, and points out that Nancy plays an important role in the development of the story.
At the same time, according to Nancy’s psychological changes, the journey of her heart is accessible to probe. Nancy’s image is hovering between good and evil, and is the key character in the story of happy endings. It can not only lead the readers to have sympathy for this "female thief", but also help us to know more about the reality of the society in that period. The complexity of Nancy's character is worth exploring, because her behavior can reflect the struggle for her fate, and the most important and valuable part is that she can still keep her kind heart and remain the beauty of human nature in that evil society.
This paper falls into five parts. The first part serves as an introduction. The second part aims at analyzing Nancy’s double character. This part is comprised of Nancy’s evil parts of nature and Nancy’s good nature. The third part explores the reasons for Nancy’s double character. This part is comprised of Nancy’s humble birth and the influence of capitalist society on Nancy’s character. The fourth part probes into Nancy’s beauty of human nature. The fifth part functions as a conclusion. This paper has a detailed analysis of Nancy’s image, it digs the shining spots of Nancy and her beauty of human nature which can be helpful to provoke the thinking of conscience, and it also has profound practical significance.

摘要本文从《雾都孤儿》中的一个次要人物南希入手，虽然南希这一人物在小说中所处的地位并不突出，但却是整部作品中非常关键性的人物，本文对她的性格特点进行了全面分析，并指出这个人物在整个故事发展中的作用。
同时，本文根据南希的遭遇，深入探索了她的心路历程。南希这一人物形象徘徊于善恶之间,是整个故事圆满结局的关键人物。这不但能引起读者对这位迷途知返的“女贼”的同情，更有助于我们认识她所处的那个社会的真面目。她是一个女贼，既有坏的一面又有好的一面,性格鲜明。南希的人物性格之复杂很值得探究，她的行为可以反映出她在命运挣扎中依然保留着善良的内心。
本篇论文分为五部分。第一部分是介绍。第二部分从南希人性的善与恶两方面来阐述了南希的双重性格。第三部分从南希卑微的出身以及当时资本主义社会对其性格所产生的影响两个方面来分析南希双重性格造成的具体原因。第四部分则是探究南希身上所体现出的人性之美优尔;文'论"文;网www.youerw.com。第五部分是结尾。本文对南希这一人物形象进行了详细的解读，挖掘南希人性的闪光点及其身上所体现的人性之美，引发人们对良知的思索，具有很重要的现实意义。
