Through The Age of Innocence, Old New York displays its social environment and fixed destiny; it also aims at revealing the relationship between inpiduals those without strong characteristic and settled environment. That society is filled with vanity, convention, contempt and hypocritical friendship, in which women are sexual and social subclass to men. Under the cultural and legal condition, a woman hardly has the chance to receive education, obtain employments, the rights for vote or even decide their own destiny.
