    摘要故事教学法,就是用讲故事的方法去传递经验、表达情感和观点,并通过搜集选择合适的故事进行分析、评价的一种教学方式。讲故事是传递知识的最早方式之一,父母总是用讲故事的方法教育孩子。在小学英语教学中,教学的重点是激发和培养孩子的学习兴趣。孩子通常具有强烈的好奇心,但往往注意力又难以集中。故事教学法在小学英语教学中的运用可以让枯燥的语言学习变得有趣和易于理解吸收,同时也符合我国新课程改革的目标要求。7427

    Abstract   Storytelling approach is a means of expressing experiences, emotions and ideas by narration. It is one of the earliest forms of knowledge transfer, and parents often use it to teach their children the meaning of life. In the primary school, the important point of English teaching is to inspire and cultivate children’s interest in learning. As we all know, it’s easy to excite children’s curiosity, but it’s quite difficult to fix their attention on English learning for a long time. By selecting appropriate stories through analysis and evaluation, primary school English teachers can make the tedious language learning more interesting and easier to understand. So study on this approach is necessary and it just meets the demands of the revolution of new curriculum.

    A Study of the Application on Storytelling Method in Primary School English Teaching
    I. Introduction
    Storytelling is described as “a technique of teaching that has stood the test of time” (Chambers 43). People used stories to express their experiences, feelings and ideas, and the parents always make use of the stories to transfer knowledge or values to children. Making use of stories in education usually starts at the childhood, the children will easily understand this world. But now the new regime requires expectant mothers to tell stories to the fetus to promote early language development. So we can come to a conclusion that stories will be with us forever. Storytelling is considered the most effective way to communicate with children. Now, the introduction of the storytelling method to the English classroom in China achieved great success. We all know that learning English is boring in itself for children, but vivid stories will make children be interested in English.
        The purpose of this paper is to explore the storytelling approach in English teaching, especially in primary school. The focus of this study will be on when to use stories in English teaching, as well as how to use stories more effectively. And different stories have different functions. For example, stories in Bible are used to influence people’s values of life; stories in Aesop’s Fable tend to teach children and adults the concept of what is right and what is wrong. Children prefer to read Anderson’s Fairy Tales, and they are always addicted to its imagination and roles. After reading it, children will gain something from tales. They gradually have their ideas and learn how to judge a man by his deeds. Finally, through narrating students can express their thoughts, sort out what they have gained, and explore the new knowledge.
