Traditional English teaching see students as robots。 Students, lacking initiative, just copy notes, take notes, recite notes innocently in class。 Leading by teachers, students are passive English learners。 The new curriculum reform emphasizes quality-oriented education, so more and more teachers advocate situational teaching。 This paper focuses on analyzing the general problems and giving some my own advice to improve the development of situational teaching on the basis of analyzing the necessity of the application of situational teaching in primary school English teaching。

The purposes of the paper are to mobilize students’ initiative, arouse their interest, stimulate their development of comprehensive language ability, improve the quality of primary school English teaching and realize quality-oriented education by analyzing the existing problems and giving corresponding strategies。

Chapter Two Literature Review

2。1 The definition of situational teaching

“Situation” is the core concept of situational teaching。 The concept of “situational teaching” was first used by Brown, Colin&Duguid in the paper, Situated Cognition and Learning Culture。 He points out: “Knowledge only makes sense in the situation where it appears and is applied; it can not be separated from its environment。 The best way to learn knowledge is to learn in the language situation。” Professor Zhang hua put that situational teaching refers to creating situations with real events and problems, so students understand knowledge and construct meaning independently in the process of exploring the event and solving the problems。来~自,优^尔-论;文*网www.youerw.com +QQ752018766-

At present, there is not a unified conclusion on the definition of situational teaching, but they all reflect the nature of situational teaching in the aspect of connotation。 Situational teaching in essence is to unify “sentiment” and “situation” organically, and the two aspects are a kind of dialectical unification relation。

The situational teaching in this paper means that with the help of teaching method and activities, it creates meaningful situation and arouses students’ emotional experience to motivate students’ thought and cultivate students’ language use capability on the basis of teaching content, students’ cognitive characteristics and life experience。 Generally speaking, it is a teaching method in class。
