Without language acquisition atmospheres, it will result in the education of English becoming monotonous and meaningless。 Then the consequence of teaching turns out to be ineffective to some extent, causing our country fall into the peculiar dilemma, such as “dumb English” and “deaf English”。 Even so, modern technological education method, especially multimedia technology can comprehensively dispose and transfer the voice, text, images and other information at the same time, displaying a more bounteous and convenient man-machine interface。 It would improve the English teaching efficiency in primary school classrooms。 For example, we can use like video, or other media to help the teachers out from the repeated lectures in the link。 In this way, the teacher can assign valuable time, experience and wisdom to solve and innovate problems。 This study would by all means contribute to the reform of primary English teaching, accelerate the pedagogical improvement on multimedia teaching practice, and greatly enhance the value of students to meet the educational requirements of modern quality。

This paper comprises five parts。 The first part is a brief introduction of this paper, including research background, significance of this study and the structure of this paper。 The second part will be devoted to a survey of the relevant theories to present research。  and the related studies on the definition, characteristics of multimedia。 In the third part, the author will make a contrast between traditional and multimedia teaching in primary English teaching。 The fifth part is the conclusion of this paper。 The author will demonstrate the major findings from this study。

Multimedia teaching can not only provide a well environment for English learning, but also can have students access to English chatting room through internet。 In this way, can students and teachers communicate with each other efficiently。 Multimedia makes the students enthusiastic about learning English, and the application English ability of students can be improved greatly。 The application of multimedia in primary English teaching is widely spread, however, there are some problems still need to be focused。 Multimedia just like a colorful world that is worth for us to have a deep research on it。

   

II。Relevant Studies on multimedia Teaching

2。1 The Definition of Multimedia 

    The term “multimedia” appears in the 1960s。 Multimedia, in the field of computer, means different kinds of media information, which usually includes: text, animation, graphics, images and audio。 Initially, it was defined two or more media groups become one single product or presentation system。 In other words, materials have been exchanged through a variety of sensory channels。 The so-called multimedia technology, in brief, is the systematical technology for computer to deal with the text, sounds, images and other various media information in real time。 It is computer-centered, combining the technology of language image and audio-visual processing。论文网

2。2 Characteristics of Multimedia Foreign Language Teaching

    The current trend is that information technology widely used in various fields of education and multimedia technology has a close relationship with foreign language teaching。 The improvement of multimedia technology continuously can make foreign language education better。 It is novel and vivid, not only easy to stimulate students’ interest, induce students motivation and break the time and space constricts, so that students can see the whole process of the development of things。 Its characteristics of assisting foreign language teaching can be concluded as follows: 

    The use of multimedia makes the introduction of the new class more concise。 The introduction of the new class is one of the keys to a good lesson。 Whether it can make the students clear about the teaching content depends on whether the introduction of the new class is concise or concrete。 The use of multimedia can achieve this goal and can produce satisfied results。 For example, an animation demo can make the students feel the real scene; an animated video can show a story to students; a jumping action can evoke a student’s memory and representation of a word even under a certain tense。 Actually, if teachers teach pupils words like worker, nurse and so on, it could become much easier with power point。
