The Study about the Negative Syntactic Transfer of Mother Tongue (Chinese) in College Students’ English Writing
Abstract Where there are different languages, there are language transfer。 As one of the problems that can not be avoided, language transfer has gotten a lot of attention from researchers since 200 years ago。 And among those different branches of language transfer, syntactic transfer is especially paid more attention to in view of its complexity and difficulty。 89791
Chinese and English belongs to different language families, so the negative syntax transfer of Chinese in English learning is obvious and complicated。 Based on this case, this thesis selects college students’ writings as research objects to have an investigation on the degree of negative transfer of different syntax items in English acquisition。 By collecting and analyzing 50 pieces of writing samples from 50 college students, who are pided into two groups, the general facts about the negative syntactic transfer of Chinese in English writing are acquired。 Besides the writing sample analysis, questionnaire is also carried out to investigate college students’ English learning habits, attitudes and strategies。 By the combination of these two methods, more comprehensive and reasonable results are gotten。 After the research, 5 concrete syntax errors selected from students’ writing samples are analyzed by using the contrastive analysis theory and markedness theory to further explain the appearance of negative syntactic transfer of Chinese in English acquisition。 And based on all the research and analysis above, 3 concrete methods and advices are raised to facilitate the English learning of Chinese students at the last part of the thesis。

摘 要 只要存在不同的语言, 就存在语言迁移现象。语言迁移无法避免,早在200多年前,语言学家和研究者就开始着手学习和研究这一现象。语言迁移存在于语言的语音、词法、句法、语义等各方面,相应的,关于语言迁移现象的各类分支也逐渐建立。在这些众多的分支中,由于句法更显复杂和困难,句法迁移现象尤其得到语言学家的关注。
汉语和英语属于不同的语言体系,差异巨大。在英语学习中,汉语的句法负迁移现象显得尤为明显、复杂和多样。因此如何有效减少汉语句法负迁移成为一个值得关注和研究的课题。本文以大学生为研究对象,旨在通过分析大学生英语作文来研究英语习得中不同句法的负迁移程度。此次研究收集了50份来自于不同大学生的英语作文样本,其中25份来自于大一学生,其余25份来自于大三学生。通过对比和分析大一和大三学生英语作文中的句法错误,关于英语写作中汉语句法负迁移的大致情况得到了一定的了解。除此之外,本文还以大学生为对象开展了问卷调查,调查和研究了大学生英语学习习惯、态度和策略等方面。通过作文样本分析和调查问卷这两种研究方法的结合,更为具体和可靠的调查结果得到进一步了解。调查结束后,根据作文样本中收集到的具体句法负迁移实例,并结合对比分析理论和标记理论,本文着重分析了5类具体句法错误来进一步探讨英语学习中汉语句法负迁移发生的原因。最后,本文就如何有效减少汉语句法负迁移现象提出了3种具体的教学和学习方法。
