1。 Introduction
There is no doubt that education must be interesting。 The national English Curriculum lays emphasis on quality-oriented education as opposed to the traditional examination-dominated education。 What’s more, education should be closely related to students’ real life and characteristics of psychological development, which can make students concentrated on study and develop their comprehensive language competence。(Cao 3) The aim of the National English Curriculum is to pay more attention to value each students’ feeling and interest, to attach importance to stimulating students’ enthusiasm in learning English, and help students to gain self-learning ability。 Interest is the key to mastering a language, consequently one of the important tasks of English is to stimulate students’ interest in learning English。 In this situation, a new teaching method has been brought up with-the Game-based Teaching Approach。
Children can actively communicate with others in a variety of ways in the game。 Game not only makes students experience the fun of learning but also makes them achieve a good sense of satisfaction of success。 As a consequence, integrating games into English class not only can greatly improve the students’ interest in learning English, but also can take the psychological characteristics of students’ learning into consideration, making originally boring English learning more interesting and teaching more effective。

Since the reform of the English Curriculum Standard, the traditional teaching method hardly meet the students’ needs, especially in their class English as a second language。 The traditional teaching method pays more attention to knowledge explanation rather than the understanding of the basic skills and knowledge, which is not consistent with students’ cognitive development。 To solve this question, the new English Curriculum Standard points out that “the new course has been gradually transferred from merely language education to whole-person education”。 (Cao 3)。
Under this situation, teachers should renew the traditional teaching method so as to develop students’ comprehensive language competence and serve students’ all-round development。
From what have discussed, the new method-the Game-based Teaching Approach using in primary English teaching is overwhelmingly necessary and it plays an indispensible role in English teaching。
1。2 Research significance and aim
From the study, we know the Game-based Teaching Approach provides teachers with a systemic and scientific method to carry on their class。 While the traditional English method tends to be a “solo” sang by the teacher。 Students may listen to the “solo” or just be absent-minded。 An effective class needs the students to interact with the teacher and sing “in chorus”。 (Ye 1)。 As we all know, children are curious about anything new and interesting while in the class used by the traditional teaching method, students may feel bored with English。
