Ⅱ. Temporal Concept
Temporal concept is also viewed as concept of time by different experts. Our understanding of temporal concept concerning about how people organize, understand and use of time in daily communication, would be the most popular and well known nonverbal factor in the intercultural communication. It is the interpretation of a person’s way of making use of time.
2.1 The Formation of Temporal Concept
Temporal concept is an ideology that associate with the influence of culture and gradually formed from childhood to adulthood, which is part of the culture, reflecting the cultural value orientation and showing the basic concept of the culture. People’s perception, reorganization and reflection of time, will form the concept of time. Concept of time is formed in social practice. Due to the different cultures of East and West in terms of social practices, ways of thinking, methods to arrange time of different countries and temporal concepts are also different. So the temporal concept will has various forms. The concept of time, which shows different forms in Eastern and Western cultures, is in objective existence. Concept of time is natural form from social practice, and thus in cross-cultural communication, people from different cultures instinctively use their own “time language” to communicate with each other, but also take for granted that their own approach to the time schedule is correct.
