    This study has both theoretical meanings and practical meanings, which could not only apply language regularity, but also provide suggestions for language teachers to pay special attention to their speaking duration in the class. Thus, we assume that the language learners could recognize the language of teacher clearly in the class, helping to improve their learning efficiency. And this is the practical significance of this study.

        The layout of the thesis is organized as following: 

    Chapter one gives the introduction, including the background of the research and the questions which is going to be answered. 

    Chapter two is the literature review which gives the readers a detailed explanation of the effect of rhythm on word segmentation, including proximal rhythm and distal rhythm. 

    Chapter three, four and five describes the design of the experiment by providing the reader the information of participants, method, procedure and material, results, and preliminary analysis of data. 

    Chapter six is a general discussion, which summarizes the present study and discusses the limitation, error analysis of the study.   

    Chapter seven gives a conclusion to the experiments.
