1.1 Background of Chinese Diet Culture and American Diet Culture
Diet means the development of food material, the production of food, and the technology, the science, the art in the process of food consumption, and the custom, the tradition, the thought and the philosophy based on diet culture. Chinese diet culture can be classified into various aspects. American diet culture lies in its easy and convenient characteristics. In today’s world, Chinese food is common in the west. Chinese food has been accepted by American consumers and has further developed in America. American fast food has a great impact on China.
1.2 Significance of the Study
By comparing Chinese and American diet culture, we can know more about the origin and development, the features, tableware in Chinese and American diet culture and the influences of Chinese and American diet culture. Also, we can have a further understanding of the differences between Chinese and American diet culture. What’s more, China and America have formally established diplomatic relations for 36 years in 2015. Therefore, diet culture has a more practical significance to communication between China and America as an important part in intercultural communication.
