After a series of studies, we can in many ways understand politeness. As we all know, politeness is our ultimate goal to be achieved. We may most often see the picture, when we are sad and need someone to comfort ourselves, we would politely ask each other whether to listen. To show our friendliness, and express our sincere feelings, we will give him a hug when he was sad or give him applause when he succeeded. Generally speaking, we must insist on good manners to be friendly to others and continue to maintain and improve it to avoid unnecessary conflict. We can think politeness is a means which promote world harmony. You can also say that politeness is a bridge, connecting better relations between people.
Politeness can also be seen as a constraint and a mean to achieve the objectives. It is also bound by all sectors of society which we are one of them. To show our human civilization, we must be polite, and comply with social norms. In this way, we won’t be considered as a reckless person and get along well with others. We need to be polite as a benchmark, learn to be tolerant of others. We have to avoid some wrong things that we would do in private.
To sum up, politeness in people’s eyes is a social phenomenon, which not only can promote the development of society, but also can promote interpersonal relationships, reflecting the significance of cross-cultural communication. Therefore, it is powerful and normative.
