Nathaniel Hawthorne, one of the most well-known writers at home and abroad, plays an important role in American literature of the romantic period. His masterpiece—The Scarlet Letter also attracts many learners for it placed much more emphasis on the female’s self-awareness and independent pursuit than before. The learners who pay sympathies on the suffering of female point out that: when studying the sex discrimination, people must find out that it is the origins of region, philosophy and mainstream thought that make this unfair thought legitimated. They also criticize the study that insists on the male-dominated thought, because this study ignores the viewpoints of female and their contributions to the history and civilization.,源^自,优尔"文'论.文]网[www.youerw.com
