    摘 要素质教育是新课程标准提出的要求,涉及的范围为全体学生,最大限度地激发学生的学习兴趣,提高学生的综合素质,让学生在课堂中最大程度地展现自己,是素质教育的最终目的。但目前由于各种因素的制约,如教师素质、教学模式等,初中英语教学的质量仍然不理想。在此背景下,本文对初中英语教学现状进行分析,并在此基础上提出相应的对策,希望能改善初中英语教学的现状,提高学生的英语学习水平的方法。关键词:教师素质;学习兴趣;英语教学8149
    Abstract  Quality education is the request of new curriculum standard. It covers all the students and means to stimulate students’ interest in learning. The ultimate goal of quality education is to improve the comprehensive quality of students, and let the students show themselves during englsh teaching. But at the moment due to the restriction of various factors, such as teachers’ quality, teaching mode,and soon the quality of the junior middle school English teaching is still not high. Given this, I will analyze the current situation of the middle school English teaching and put forward the corresponding countermeasures in order to change the situation of teaching and improve the English level of the middle school students.

    The Present Situation and Countermeasures of Middle School English Teaching

    I. Introduction

        Nowadays, with the rapid growth of science and technology, the fast accumulation of knowledge and information and the incessant creation of the market products, the educational system should be reformed for adapting the fierce competition between countries. Particularly, in the middle school, English teaching is the most outstanding problem needed to be solved. Of course, the government has paid more attention to the English teaching. However, such measures, to some extend, did not improve the situation of the education. For one thing, students have no clear idea about English learning, and their attitudes and learning motivation are still vague. For another, the teachers often adopt the traditional teaching methods and the schools have not a normatively united English teaching—learning group. For these reasons, this paper will explain why the students’ English is poor and give some suggestions to solve these problems.
        As we know, English is a language different from our native tongue. However, people learn languages in different ways for different reasons, and have different understandings about the language learning. For Chinese students, they have not enough exposure to good circumstances of English learning and will face various problems in learning English. English is a very useful foreign language and is a widely-spoken language in the world. Now people are aware of its importance and the necessity of learning it. However, for students, there is still a long way to go to keep them interested in English learning.
