But the traditional way of EST translation is extensively loyal to the original text, which ignores the principle of veracity of EST translation in order to keep the visage of original text (Ma Qinghai,1997:26-27). Especially in the translation of Chinese to English, traditional translation way would misrepresent the meaning of original text, which makes the original text be expressed precisely. For a long time, most of the EST translation strategies pay more attention to the description analysis rather than the theoretical foundation. And there is a little reference of EST translation from Chinese to English, so a lot of writers cannot translate the Chinese scientific text precisely, that is to say, foreigners may not precisely understand the translation of our articles or misunderstand, which makes our Chinese science and technology achievements and products cannot be introduced to the world. As a result, the speed of Chinese science and technology would be influenced and left behind the pace of the globalization. So the study of the EST translation from Chinese to English is quite important.文献综述
1.2 Research Objective
Nida argued that “accuracy of content should not be judged primarily in terms of ‘be true ’to the author, but in not causing misunderstanding of the message by those for whom the translation is intended”(Nida,2001:57-60). In order to have a standard of the translation from the original language to target language, Nida proposed the famous functional equivalence theory from the perspective of linguistics and the essence of translation. In the Nida’s famous functional equivalence theory, the reader is taken as the most important position. The essence of functional equivalence theory is the comparison between the way readers understand the original text and the way reader understand the translation text. The research objective is to testify the practical applicability of functional equivalence theory in EST translation from Chinese to English from the perspective of the readers,and use the various strategies to solve the existing problems of EST translation from Chinese to English.
2. A brief Analysis of Scientific Text
2.1 Classification of Scientific Text
Scientific text covers a large range. Liu Miqing has expressed his opinions about scientific text in Style and Translation, he thought that scientific English is the written and spoken English about the science and technology (Liu Miqing,2005:45-60). And he has classified the scientific English into five categories:
a. Scientific and technological books, scientific research papers, scientific and technological reports, experimental reports and schemes;
b. All kinds of scientific and technological information and written materials;来.自/优尔论|文-网www.youerw.com/

d. Terminology used in talks, meetings and conversations concerning science and technology;
e. Oral commentary or written caption used in scientific and technological films and videos.
2.2 The Features of Scientific Text
2.2.1 Features on Vocabulary
a. A lot of Nominalized Structures
The large employment of nominalized structure is one of the features of EST, because scientific text requires briefness, preciseness, and large information. It stresses the existing fact not the action.
b. A lot of Compound Words and Abbreviations
There are a lot of compound words and abbreviations in EST. And the composition of compound word has also changed. In the past, there are only double words of compound word. But now there are not only double words but also multi-word, which makes the translation easy to understand. And the abbreviation has the tendency to casual word-building.
