摘要本论文应用跨文化交际理论知识,借助霍尔和利贝斯,凯茨的文化解读理论,以《绝望主妇》为范例,探讨美剧在中国的跨文化传播情况。采用调查问卷的方式,了解美剧在当代大学生中的受欢迎程度,接触渠道,观看时间,受捧原因,受影响程度,对美局长那个宣扬的文化的接受程度等;采用焦点小组访谈,以《绝望主妇》为探讨范本,了解大学生对异质文化的解读方式,以此了解现在大学生的审美水平和批判能力,即国际媒介素养,从而为有效的跨文化交际提供建议。67676

Title A Brief Analysis of Cross-cultural Communication of American TV Series Among Chinese College Students
Abstract
This paper endeavors to explore the cross-cultural communication of American TV dramas among Chinese college students, taking Desperate Housewives as the example and using the theories of cross cultural communication, such as Hall’s cultural interpretation theory and Liebes and kartz’s cross-cultural reading. The paper uses a questionnaire to illustrate the popularity of American TV production among Chinese college students, their contact channel, viewing time, influences on them, reasons of its popularity, their acceptance degree of values depicted in Desperate Housewives and so on. With the method of focus group and Desperate Housewives as a discussion test, the paper tries to display reading mode of college students on American TV series and further uncover their appreciation and critical ability of exotic culture, or their international media literacy so as to offer some constructive suggestions on effective cross cultural communication.

1 Introduction
The trend of globalization has brought the world together and much closer by exchanging multiple material products, media products and so on among countries. As one representative of the powerful culture, the American media industry has launched the great campaign of exporting media products overseas, including TV dramas and films. It has intrigued a huge echo among Chinese audience, especially the young receivers. At the same time, the phenomenon that American TV series go popular in China has drawn much concern from scholars and experts recently. Their researches focus on reasons why American media products have received great affection in China and making profound analysis of China’s main audience. One of the loyal audience groups, college students is composed of a large proportion, thus they should be given due attention. This paper explores to unearth college students’ general attitudes towards American TV products and their capability of interpreting one popular American TV series, Desperate Housewives by conducting a questionnaire and a focus group talk about Desperate Housewives.
