Abstract With the rise of film industry in the world, China also follows the world trends to introduce a large number of high-quality films. In recent years, a large number of English films in China have gained remarkable development, and recorded high at the box office, which is closely related to translators’ translation of English film. This thesis is based on the translation methods and strategies of classical English films. The use of common methods, such as literal translation, transliteration, the combination of literal translation and transliteration and literal translation with supplements, as well  as  strategies, such as parallel migration strategy, addition and subtraction strategy and inter-textual strategy has important effects on English film translation as well as play an active role in it. This thesis also has significant and practical effects on the translation of future English  films.70926

摘要随着电影行业在世界范围内的兴起，我国紧跟世界潮流，大量引进了国外优质的电 影作品。近些年来，大批英语电影在中国获得了卓越发展，并且屡创票房新高，这与翻 译工作者对于英语电影的翻译息息相关。本文是对经典英语电影翻译的方法与策略的研 究，通过使用常见的直译，音译，意译，直译意译相结合和直译加补充的翻译方法，以 及平行迁移策略，增补策略和互文策略，体现了英语翻译方法与策略对于电影翻译的重 要影响和积极作用，并对日后英语电影的翻译具有重要的现实意义。

1. Introduction

“Gaining all people's cultural identity is very difficult for every type of art. Precisely at this moment, the film showed up.” (Cai and You 25) Since emerging in 1985, film,  as a fabulous type of art, has developed sorely fast. People have been addicted to its glamour and enchantment. It has swept all over the world and people’s passion for it never  faded. The reason for the prevalence of film is that it not only brings entertainment and amusement to the audience, but also serves as a symbol of culture, custom, and philosophy. We usually can acquire a lot from some great films and they connect the world tightly and closely. It is also an excellent opportunity for us to get to know the traditions and mores of many other foreign countries.
