In western history, catering is often considered as a means of living and the ways of communication. No matter what is the color, flavor or shape, the nutrition from food must be ensured, so western ideas usually set the amount of nutrition as the highest criterion. For example, people in west completely refuse to use monosodium glutamate, let alone they take in it. Because in their opinion, they think it is not only free from daily nutrition, but also belongs to the range of chemical products with detrimental effects on people. Another example is that from their traditional catering ideas, protein, carbohydrate, fat should be calculated explicitly before taking and the amount of calories are also supposed to be absorbed appropriately. That is the reason why they are inclined to eat raw vegetables, such as tomatoes, cucumbers, cabbages, onions and so on. From these eating habits, it is obviously to see that western people are good at logical inference in the form of abstract ideas. They attach importance to rational analysis and make no efforts to cultivate this specific character in order to cater to their living circumstances, an intellectual environment. Their acquaintances with objective things are led by logos and they prefer to emphasize the judgment of what is true and false rather than the choices of values. Therefore, western dietetic ideas about catering tend to be more reasonable, which propel them to set up consciousness of meeting their physical needs. Eating nutritive food is always considered as western people’s starting point and this idea is certainly adapted to the whole philosophy of which speculative metaphysics is the main feature
