Abstract Jane Austen (1775-1817) was an outstanding realistic novelist in the nineteenth-century Britain. Her works are mostly in detailed descriptions and clear themes in which the love and marriage are of great significance. As a female realistic novelist, her works reflect the economic realities, the social history as well as the women’s status and situations at that time. Pride and Prejudice was published in 1813 and it is a representative classical masterpiece of Austen.71711
Based on a close reading of this novel, this paper will analyze four different marriage modes in the novel and the main marriage views of the author in further from the following four parts. In chapter one, this paper studies the social background of the novel which affected people’s marriage views of that time. In chapter two, it briefly analyzes four different marriage modes: erotic marriage, convenience marriage, moral marriage and perfect marriage. In the third chapter, the paper investigates into the author’s own love and marriage views: marriage maintains on the basis of love, wealth is the guarantee of a marriage, different characters influence the marriage and a perfect marriage requires the sense. At last, this thesis integrally concludes the author’s views of love and marriage conveyed from the novel.

摘 要简•奥斯汀(1775-1817)是19世纪英国的一位杰出的现实zhuyi作家。她的作品向来描写细腻,主题鲜明,且均以爱情和婚姻为主题。作为一名现实zhuyi女性作家,她的作品大都反映其所处时代的社会历史、经济现实以及女性的地位与状况。《傲慢与偏见》于1813年问世,是简•奥斯汀诸多作品中颇具代表性的一部作品。
本篇论文以《傲慢与偏见》为研究对象,通过对小说文本的细读,联系当时社会背景,从以下四部分分析并阐述奥斯汀在其作品中描写的不同的婚姻类型以及婚姻观。在第一章中,本文从社会时代背景入手,结合作者所处时代,分析作品婚姻主题的创作背景;第二章中,论文研究并简单阐述了小说中四种不同的婚姻模式:情欲婚姻、利益婚姻、道德婚姻和完美婚姻;第三章中,本文着重总结概括了奥斯汀在小说中表达出的自身的爱情观和婚姻理念,即爱情是婚姻的前提,经济能力是爱情的保障,不同的性格影响婚姻以及一段完美的婚姻需要理性;在最后一章,本文进一步总结了作者通过《傲慢与偏见》这部小说传递出的爱情观和婚姻观。
