Chapter One Introduction
With the economic globalization going deeper, English has exerted a more and more significant effort on international communication。 It is vital for today’s students to learn English well。 Writing is a comprehensive reflection of the language proficiency。 However, English writing has been the weakest part for most of the students who have learned English as a second language。 In junior school, most of the students are troubled by how to write good compositions。 Due to limited input of grammar, vocabularies etc, students often make mistakes and find nothing to write in their English composition。 In a bid to improve students’ writing competence, scholars have proposed many approaches, for instance, process approach, product approach and so on。 These approaches all have made some achievements in improving students writing competence, although there are some obvious shortcomings on them, such as bald learning procedure and taking a great deal of time。 Reading-to-write approach combines their advantages。 The reading materials it used are from extra-curriculum books and English textbooks。
