Eco-translatology, proposed by famous domestic scholar Hu Gengshen, provides the translation study with a brand new angle, from a macro-scale and multi-dimensional level。 As for Eco-translatology, translation is a kind of translator’s behavior of adaptation and selection, dominated by the translator, based on the original text and aimed to realize cross-cultural information conversion。 Up to now, Eco-translatology has been applied into the translation of film titles, public signs, novels and so on。 However, it is quite rare to find the application of Eco-translatology in English films’ subtitle translation。 Thus, this thesis will analyze the subtitle translation of the film The Fast and the Furious 7 from the angle of Eco-translatology and figure out the adaptation and selection from linguistic, cultural and communicative dimensions。

2。1 An Overview on Eco-translatology
With the flouring of ecological trend on a world-wide scale, a new theory of ecological translation---Eco-translatology comes out。 Since the 1960s, human society has shifted from industrial civilization to ecological civilization。 Thanks to the Declaration of United Nations Conference on Human Environment in 1972, the issue of protecting the environment becomes the duty of all mankind。 Following the ecological trend, China has been paying considerable attention to ecological environment and has put forward sustainable development and scientific development。 Under these conditions, it is absolutely inevitable for ecology to penetrate into various scientific research fields including the translation area and thus emerges the Eco-translatology。
Though raised by Chinese scholar Professor Hu Gengshen, Eco-translatology paves its way from the transition from modern thoughts and philosophies。 Michael Cronin, director of the human science department at Dublin City University, initially proposed the word “Eco-translatology” which aimed to accelerate the development of interdisciplinary study and to explore new scientific translation。 In 2000, Nida put forward in his paper A Fresh Look at Translation that thousands of decisions like selections and settlements should be made to adapt to other culture, publisher’s need, and readers’ requirements。 In 2002, Xu Jun declares in The Choice in Translation that the choice of translation is the inseparable part during the whole translation process(Xun Jun,2002)。 From 2001 up to now, over 20 theoretical articles on Eco-translatology have been published by Professor Hu to fully illustrate the theory of Eco-translatology。 In 2004, Professor Hu published From the Translator Subjectivity to Translator-centeredness, An Attempt in Translation Theory Study and The Philosophical Motivation of an Approach to Translation as Adaptation and Selection。 In these articles, the concept of Eco-translatology is disclosed through its basic connotation, background and research limitations。 The First International Symposium on Eco-translatology held in Macao in 2010, is the first time in China that Eco-translatology scholars have officially gathered to discuss and exchange ideas。 Then more and more scholars show concerns about Eco-translatology and it has been gradually adopted in the use of translation on advertising language, public signs, novels and so on。 Based on the researches above, Eco-translatology wins it reputation through Hu Gengshen’s introduction of Darwin’s evolution theory to translation study。 In his Eco-translatology: Construction & Interpretation, he deems that the translation process is the translator’s adaptation and selection in translational environment and eco-environment and that “multi- dimensional adaptation and adaptive selection” is the translation principle。 In the light of translation methods, three-dimensional transformation including linguistic, cultural and communicative dimensions is the core of Eco-translatology。 According to Professor Hu, the translator should adopt adaptive transformation from multiple dimensions to achieve a satisfactory translation。 Therefore, this article aims to figure out the adaptive selection from linguistic, cultural and communicative dimensions through the analysis on subtitle translation of the film The Fast and the Furious 7。文献综述
