摘要为了给外国游客提供便利，我国大量的公示语被翻译成英语。但是由于汉英翻译中的多种问题，一些译文不仅不能提供信息，反而影响了有效的交际交流。为了提高公示语汉英翻译的质量，使之切实起到国际交流的桥梁作用，对公示语的错误类型分析与研究是十分必要的。本文结合公示语汉英翻译的问题现状，从公示语的定义、分类和功能入手，以奈达翻译对等理论为理论基础，搜集大量公示语翻译实例，分析了其中存在的词汇、语义和句法错误、文化内涵错误以及由于译者粗心造成的翻译错误。本研究对公示语及相关文类的翻译有一定帮助。82605

Abstract    In order to provide convenience for foreign visitors, a number of Chinese public signs have been translated into English。 However, there exist many mistakes in some English versions of Chinese public signs。 So, it not only fails to provide information but also hampers effective communication and interaction。 For the improvement of the translation quality of public signs in pursuit of its function of internationally communicative link, it is necessary to research the error types of public signs translation。 Based on the status quo of public signs translation, this paper introduces the definition, classification and functions of public signs。 With Nida’s translation equivalence theory as a theoretical framework, the research analyzes lexical, semantic and syntactic errors, cultural connotation errors and mistakes out of translators’ carelessness in public signs translaiton, which will be helpful for public signs translation。

The exchange with foreign countries has been continuously expanded。 More and more foreign people come to China to travel, work, and study。 Therefore, the English version of public signs is playing a vital part in daily activities of our society, and reflects the degree of internationalization and the level of humanity accomplishment。 In fact, many public signs can’t convey the original information smoothly。
