Analysis on Oral English Errors in Middle School

I。 Introduction

English study is a process which proceeds in an orderly way, especially the oral English study。 It is an ability which achieves communications among people from different countries。 It is a process accumulation to grasp language points of language。 

In the developing process, the oral errors are unavoidable; it is a very normal phenomenon。 Richards and Sampson (1974: 4) claim that “error” should not be viewed as problems to be overcome, but rather as normal and inevitable features indicating the strategies that learners use。 Of course this needs people to know the sources of the oral English errors。 Then eliminating and avoiding the unnecessary errors are much easier in oral English study。 The aim of this paper is to give some enlightenment to student’s oral English study。

Many junior students will be influenced by their native language, Chinese word order, vocabulary and teachers’ own shortcomings in the period of their English study。 They will have a misunderstanding about oral English。 Firstly, Chinese students study Chinese for a long time and everybody cannot speak Chinese fluently before they study English。 The experience of mother tongue’s study and the knowledge of the mother tongue can play a positive role in English study。 On the other hand it will become an inevitable interference。 Secondly, in the period of junior middle schools, students are at the active stage of puberty。 In the class they would not focus on teacher’s explanation totally and thus miss some important language points。 And some students don’t like English; they have an antipathy about English from their heart。 So they don’t study English at all。 Finally, for junior students, the main way of studying English is through teachers’ explanation in classes。 There are also errors that may be caused by teachers。来:自[优E尔L论W文W网www.youerw.com +QQ752018766-

Teachers should not depend on the textbook totally; they should have their own ways to explain grammatical points。 Often in the teaching process some teachers will meet some questions they also can’t solve。 On this condition they should have a basic view and arrangement; otherwise it will have a bad effect on students’ English learning。 Students should improve their ability of oral English, strengthen their own basic knowledge, and practice oral English more。 Students should face their problems when they speak English。 Errors are not fearful, but if they were not dare to face the problems they made, which is what they should dare to do。 Solving the problems they met in their oral practice, they can have a deeper understanding。 It is very helpful to improve their oral English abilities。文献综述

 Error analysis is necessary in English classes, students can realize what errors that they often make and then correct them after teacher’s error analysis。 Learning a language does not only needs input, but also needs output, so English learners should practice their oral English as much as they can。 With these helps, the author thinks the junior students can speak fluent and beautiful English and improve their ability of English communication。
