The research subject Bonnie, an image with distinctive characteristic, is the youngest daughter of Scarlett, the heroine of the novel Gone with the Wind。 Scarlett has three children, but Bonnie is the one who takes the most space of depicting among the three。 She is not an ordinary child because she bears great expectation and imagination of her father, but also great similarity and reflection of her mother, the love and conflict of her parents, and an image of the civil war period。
The research subject is a special and complicated character。 She bears too much while she is just a little girl。 This thesis aims to find out the character Bonnie’s meaning of birth and death, the symbolic meaning of the research subject, the implication of the depiction and the fate of Bonnie’s parents by analyzing the characters’ designing, the research subject’s and the parents’ nature, etc。
