The Little Prince as the most widely circulated fairy tale in twentieth Century, has been translated into more than 100 languages。 Its circulation is second only to the Bible。 However, its research, both in quantity and quality, are not as good as other classics。 Most of  papers which considered the little prince as the study object had only mentioned the values and philosophy of life hidden in the article。 Some papers have  analyzed the symbolic meaning of the little prince。

 In The Little Prince, with the contrast of reality and virtual world, the author created the image of the little prince which can be considered as the  shadow of everyone's childhood。 In the book, the little prince is the irony image of the human desire and dirty, but also the image of the pursuit of sincere and love。 Ling Xuedong (2005)mentioned Antoine de Saint-Exupry fully used the symbolism in The Little Prince。 Li Xin(2005) said that The Little Prince is a children's story which in fact is written for adults with implied philosophic theory。 Her essay holds that this book implies philosophy of life: it warns the modern people against being alienated by desires such as domination, possession and vanity, etc。 The modern people should learn from children and try to keep their innate characters, be faithful to love and friendship, and have the sense of responsibility, creative spirit and imaginative power。 In 1967, Paul Webster(1993) studied the little prince's life and death, he thought the little prince symbolizes the life and death of Anthony de Saint Exupery's experience。 论文网

The author of The Happy Prince Oscar Wilde is considered as the advocate of aestheticism。 Han Jing(2012) mentioned the death theme of The Happy Prince And Other Fairy Tales which contains the typical aestheticism。 Han Chunyu's(2015) paper, A View on the Contradictory Nature of Oscar Wilde's Fairy Tales, reveals the contradiction between the happy prince and environment factors, and the happy prince was an image whose spirits is the transcendence of death and self sacrifice。 However, the comparative analysis of the princes is very little, we need to find out more。

The Little Prince tells us a long story。 An airplane pilot or we can consider him as the narrator。 One day, he crashes in the Sahara desert and his airplane is badly damaged which leads him to a predicament。 There is only very little food and water。 When the pilot is worried about how to live, he is approached by the little prince, a blond boy who asks him to draw a sheep。 The pilot is obliged to do so ,and the two become friends。 The little Prince comes from a small planet called Asteroid 325 or Asteroid B-612 by people on earth。 For protecting his planet , the little prince prevented baobab tress from overrunning his planet。 One day, a rose sprouted on his planet and he fell in love with it。 But when he found her lie , he decided that he didn’t trust her anymore。 He got into being lonely and decided to set out even at last he reconciled with the rose。

While journeying, the little prince passed by many neighboring asteroids。 He started to get into the strange world of the grown-ups。 On the first six planets, the little prince met a king, a vain man, a drunkard,a businessman, a lamplighter, and a geographer。 Their strange behavior like living alone and being obsessed with their work made him confused。 He can’t understand their need to order people, to be admired and to own almost everything。 But he admired the lamplighter and He learned from the geographer that flower can not last forever and he began to miss the rose on his planet。文献综述

And with the geographer’s suggestion, the little prince went to visit the earth。 But unfortunately he landed in the middles of the desert where he can not see any people。 Moreover, he met a snake who spoke in riddles and hints darkly。 The snake said its lethal poison can send the little prince to the heavens as he wishes。 But the little prince did not take care of it and he continued his explorations and he met a three-petaled flower and climbed the tallest mountain。 At last, he found a rose garden which totally broke what the rose has told him,”She is the only one ” 。
