Abstract As we all know a good beginning is half done。 Leading-in is the first part and is also the most basic procedure of the English teaching process。 Although leading-in only lasts 5-6 minutes in English classroom teaching, it still plays a very important role。 The most successful leading-in strategies can vivify the atmosphere of the English teaching classroom, inspire the learning interest and the learning motivation of the students, make the students study much more actively and devote themselves into the classroom activities in a better state。 However, it has always been a big problem for most senior high school English teachers to use leading-in strategies properly and effectively。 Thus this paper presents theoretical bases of leading-in in senior high school and mainly explores the specific use of leading-in in senior high school English classroom teaching。   92809

Why words like “start”, “beginning”, and “the first time” can attract people’s attention most? It’s because of the function of “the first impression”, as well as “the first effect”。 This kind of phenomenon is called “series group effect” in psychology (Yan 73)。 As the saying goes: “A good beginning is half done”。 It reminds us that a good leading-in part is a crucial link in a successful class, and it can directly catch the students’ attention focused within a few minutes, inspire their learning interest in English, and motivates them to study。

However, confronting the teaching task and pressure of the college entrance examination, many English teachers overlook the leading-in part in order to save time so that the students can gain much more knowledge。 As a result, students may lose their interest in English learning。

So the author first attempts to sum up some theories as well as some methods of leading-in, then the author will put forward some specific use of leading-in based on the previous theories。 As we all know, practice without theory is blind; theory without practice is empty。 All in all, leading-in is a link of teaching that can not be neglected in senior high school English teaching。
