Since the popularity of Nida’s theory, a growing number of scholars have begun their studies on his theory. Previous researches can be found in many fields. For example, Ma elaborates the theory from the perspective of the feasibilities and the limitations of Nida’s theory (1999). On the one hand, she points out reaching rough equivalence to some degree is possible and she cites a good many examples to make comparisons of different versions in light of functional equivalence theory and other theories. On the other hand, she demonstrates some imperfections of the theory. Her research provides people with a comprehensive understanding of functional equivalence theory and offers a useful reference for later researchers.
