Abstract There is always a problem in the long history of English teaching: how can the language be used effectively by learners in all teaching researches? Hence, many scholars have put forward various theories and methods with playing different roles in this time. It is not enough to learn foreign language merely with the development of times and the foreign language teaching views. It requires learners’ good cross-cultural communicative competences with the development of globalization and the frequent exchanges among countries. In the meantime, it is deemed that the competences with one kind of foreign language does not equal with good cross-cultural communicative competences. While the final purpose of foreign language learning is just the cultivation of cross-cultural communication competences. Since the 1950s, the research emphasis of foreign language teaching has been changed from the cultivation of language competences into the cultivation of cross-cultural communicative competences. But it is still in the initial stage in current foreign language teaching. Teachers should not only teach students knowledge, but also let them get to the social culture. Students can only get the edges of language without knowing culture backgrounds. Therefore, teachers should cultivate their cross-cultural communicative competences and help them fully master English as a communication tool through the combination of language teaching and culture teaching. This thesis puts forward the view of emphasizing the cultivation of cross-cultural communicative competences in English teaching, highlights the cultivation of the competences and some questions that teachers should notice, elaborates basic theories of cross-cultural awareness, and discusses the solid ways to cultivate the competences.49273

摘要在漫长的历史和英语教学中,有一个问题是,在所有的教育研究中应当如何使学习者可以有效地使用语言。因此,在这一时期,学者们提出了各种各样的理论和方法,他们也扮演着不同的角色。随着时代的不断发展,外语教学理念也在不断发展,人们开始仅仅学习外语是不够的,随着全球化的趋势越来越明显,不同国家之间的交流变得越来越频繁,这就要求学习者具有良好的跨文化交际能力,同时也发现只有一个良好的外语能力并不意着有更好的跨文化交际能力。而外语学习的最终目的是培养学生的跨文化交际能力。从20世纪50年代开始,外语教学的研究已从培养学生的语言能力发展到培养学生的跨文化交际能力。在当前的外语教学中,仍处于初级阶段的跨文化交际能力培养。在小学英语教学中,教师不仅要向学生传授语言知识,而且要使学生了解社会文化。没有文化背景,学生就只能学到语言的外壳。因此,教师应将语言教学与文化教学相结合,在教学中培养学生的跨文化交际能力,使他们真正掌握英语作为交际工具。本文提出了在英语教学中重视跨文化交际能力这一观点,重点强调了跨文化交际能力的培养,以及应该注意的一些问题,阐述了跨文化意识的基本理论,探讨了如何培养跨文化交际能力,并提出了切实可行的方法。
