Chapter One Introduction
1.1 The Statement of the Study
1.1.1 The Purpose of the Study
The paper will analyze the concept of marriage and love of Grace and contrast hers with that of the other characters in the novel. By presenting the difficulties that women try to get rid of the depressed state and seek for free lifestyle in love, marriage and family, the paper will explore multilevel reasons including social background, personal factors and character aspects. The adoption of the method of comparative studies makes it easier to explore the effects of multilevel factors on the concept of marriage and love of female characters in the novel.
1.1.2 The Significance of the Study
The contemporary Canadian women”s marriage and love is an epitome of Canadian women’s life condition. And the female concept of marriage and love is an epitome of female World outlook and values. The thesis is about the study of contemporary Canadian women’s marriage and the changes of the consciousness of female liberation, revealing the history problems hidden in the novel.
The study on the novels collection “runaway” is far more than that on the novel passion not only in the study abroad, but also in the study at home. However, the thesis is strongly targeted as it focus on one novel in a novel collection which shares the same theme, aimed at increasing the domestic research on Alice Munro’s novels.来!自~优尔论-文|网www.youerw.com
