1。1。2 Current conditions of primary English vocabulary teaching
The history of English courses in Primary school is not long, it’s hard to avoid all kinds of problems in the process of teaching, especially in vocabulary teaching。 Vocabulary is the basis of language learning。 Vocabulary, as the basic unit of language, plays a significant role to achieve the function of language communication。 However,
vocabulary has become a headache problem for teachers and students。 Only when the students master enough vocabulary, can they improve their language knowledge and skills。 In Grade 3 or 4, due to the small amount of vocabularies, students start learning English and are still interested in English, but when they come to Grade 5 or 6, as the increase of vocabularies and the aggravation of learning tasks, adopting the method of mechanical learning makes it more difficult for students to use the language in real life。 In traditional English vocabulary teaching, teachers often teach words by lecturing and practicing。 Sometimes students just read after their teachers or tapes, and some teachers even consider that remembering words can only depend on repeating。 Because of the boring atmosphere, students lack interest and learning is inefficient。
