1。2 Significance and purpose
Firstly, combining with the features of English Vocabulary Teaching and the characteristics of students’ development in primary school, this paper studies situation-based English vocabulary teaching design。 It provides beneficial enlightenment for the primary school vocabulary learning and teaching。 It is beneficial to improve the teaching efficiency of vocabulary and carry out English teaching practice。 Secondly, this study can let more teachers realize that situation is an important factor in English vocabulary teaching, without situation, the effects on teaching would not be as good as imagined; teachers should change the traditional English teaching mode, and make full use of all kinds of situation creating methods in English teaching。

2。1 Definition of situation

According to the origin of the word, the definition of “situation” online in Cihai is “context and environment”。 Oxford Advanced Learner’s Dictionary of Current English translates the “situation” to “position, place, job or career”, and especially means “the condition and situation of things development at a time。” (Zhang Fangjie, 1984)
From the angle of education, the definition of “situation” in the dictionary of education is “the situation is the concept of symbolic interaction theory during analyzing the course of interpersonal interaction”。 (Gu Mingyuan, 1999)
Psychology defines “situation” as “situation can stimulate people directly, and it’s a specific environment which has a biological and social significance。 Situation plays a specific role in stimulating the emotion of people。” (Yang Qing, 1985)
To sum up, “situation” in this paper means that the teachers create or simulate the specific situation in class or after class, so that students can actively participate in English teaching activities。
