Domestically, researchers also speak highly of The Yellow Wallpaper。 It was studied form the perspective of eco-feminism。 The author stated that “women and nature has the intrinsic self-identity in the patriarchy culture and both of them are influenced badly because of the industrial revolution。”(Chen 36) Some explore the theme of The Yellow Wallpaper “in terms of geographic space, structure space and topic space according to the spatial criticism, so as to analyze the social background of the main character’s awakening。” Also some study “the development of Gilman’s feminist ideology and argue that the growth of Gilman’s ideals coincides with the fates of the female protagonists in her works。”(Susan 430)文献综述

Although Charlotte。P。Gillman and LuXun have a different background,a different  history,I found that they shared some of the same ideas。Written in the from of a diary, exposedthe hypocrisy and cruelty of patriarchy the feudal society through the eyes and emotions of a lunatic。When we make a thorough inquiry into the images of madness,we may find the two writers have the similar reasons to shape this kind of character。

In 1918，advanced intellectuals of China have awakened to strike off shackles of the past。 The forerunners of the May Fourth Culture Movement found that the loyal, filialpiety and chastity of the Confucianism’s three-outline, which dominate the traditional moral and ethical system which uses the feminism for the standard。 The Madman’s Diary was published at that time。 Written in the form of a diary, Journal of a Madman laid bare the hypocrisy and cruelty of the feudal society through the eyes and emotions of a lunatic。 Such lopsided but profound theory manifested his step understanding for the evil nature of traditional culture, his strong accusation for the dark and cannibalistic society and also his enthusiastic call for great rejuvenation of China。(Fu 47)
