摘 要动物词汇是有关于动物的单词，短语和习语等。动物词汇在英汉语言中出现的频率很高，经过历史的沉淀，承载了不同民族丰富的文化信息。本文从文献研究入手,运用对比分析的方法和实例研究的方法，分析动物习语研究与文化的理论基础，中英动物习语的异同，以及产生这些的主要文化差异，从而帮助人们更好地学习英语并成功进行跨文化交际。35648

Abstract Animal words are the words, phrases and other idioms about animals. Animal word appears in Chinese and English continually. Through the historical precipitation, it carries rich cultural information of different nations. This paper will start from the literature review and use the way of contrastive analysis and case study, analyzing the theoretical basis about the study of animal idioms and culture, the same and differences of animal words between Chinese and English, and the main cultural differences. Then it can help people to study English better and make cross-cultural communication successfully.

American linguist Sapir (E.Sapir), in his book Language pointed out that “Something is behind language, and language cannot exist without culture’’ (Hornby 221) . Language is the carrier of culture and the tools of communication. The process of the development is noted by language during human social civilization. Every language reflects an unique characteristic of the language group.
