But Chinese elements explained by Americans seem to be different from what we take granted for, making us feel strange。 Due to the cultural diffusion, it seems to appear several kinds of “cultural integration” between the two major countries to some extent。 Moreover, it’s not new for us to find the so called “cultural variations” of Chinese elements in American views because of cultural conflict。 “However, from the aspects of cultural communication, either the cultural integration or the cultural conflict is the result of cultural diffusion between the two different cultures (Che and OuYang 4)。” 

As a racially mixed country, the United States has a large population of Chinese-Americans, who actually make great contribution to the economy of the country。 Undoubtedly, the rich Chinese materials in American TV series may attract much attention and investment from Chinese audiences and investors。 In this way, it can promote its own cultural exports。 However, the distorted Chinese images on the television may cause dissatisfaction and complaints from Chinese audiences。 Moreover, it deprives the American even the western audiences of the chances to know China better。 On the other hand, according to the elements on the television, many foreigners develop interests in Chinese culture and customs, and more and more people want to visit China on their own to get a better understanding of such a mysterious country, which helps to bring the rise of tourism and its related industries in China。 The distorted Chinese images might be harmful for the impression left on Americans and people from other countries, making it difficult for China to maintain the good international profile as a civilization state。 Meanwhile, the entering and spreading of such American serials have a bad effect on the development of values of the youngsters。 So, it’s necessary for both Chinese and Americans to pay attention to the actual presentation of Chinese elements in American TV series。

2。 Literature Review

China has always been a hot topic for both domestic and foreign scholars。 Zheng He's successful voyages in the South Seas as far as Africa in 1405 began to unveil the mysterious eastern powerful country to the whole world。 Especially in Ming Dynasty, almost all Southeast Asian countries, all coastal countries in South Asia, West Asia and East Africa, and some landlocked countries of Central Asia needed to pay tribute to China to show their respect。 With the historical development of the changing times, China also experienced a humiliating and painful stage that we cannot ignore。 For the whole world, their impressions of China shift in the space, but many times their understanding of China is far from enough, and many people see China as it was10 years or even decades ago。

History is a witness of the existence and prosperity of a nation。 The Chinese Society is a record of comprehensive history of China written by Xie Henai, a famous French sinologist。 The book records the history of China from the ancient times to the end of the1980s,and Xie Henai makes profound studies in many aspects of Chinese history and culture, such as Buddhism, social history, economic history, Dunhuang studies and Christianity。 Based on many Western sinological research results, the book also tries to refer to the research results of Chinese historians。 It is of great reference value for the foreign countries to carry out the studies of Chinese history in a deep-going way。 In order to present the introduction and evolution of European scientific knowledge in China, some books discuss about the geography, mathematics and the attitudes of the Chinese scholars。 In The Clash of Civilizations and the Remaking of World Order, Samuel Huntington gives a vivid expression about how the cultural power affect different aspects of each country, which even affects world order。
