Abstract The Pursuit of Happiness tells the story of a bankruptcy salesman who porced。 He worked hard to fulfill the responsibility as a single parent, made progress to become a stock market trader, and eventually became a well-known financial investor。 Taking the American film The Pursuit of Happiness as an example, by analyzing the film synopsis connotation, the paper explores subtitle translation strategies。 As people increasingly demand film translation, translation requires not only the meaning of the expressions of the film itself, but also requires to fit the Chinese culture to the Chinese audience so they can fully understand the meaning of the film。 But there are still many problems in subtitle translation, movie translation strategies also need to be further explored and understood。 By studying the translation strategies of this movie, the paper is aimed at understanding the status quo of film translation in China and learning subtitle translation strategies。
