Abstract As we all know, with the increasing development of our country, English has been playing a very important role in our daily life。 The widespread need for English as a second or a foreign language puts a considerable pressure on the educational resources of many countries。 Problems relating to the teaching of English are discussed the world over。 Language is a tool by which human beings communicate with each other。 Therefore, it‟s necessary for teachers to know how to effectively teach it。 Undeniably, whether a teacher can effectively teach an English text mainly depends on whether he/she has the awareness of context, thus this article aims at discussing the impact of context on English teaching。85471

In China, since the reform and opening up, not only has the paradigm of English teaching in our nation been dramatically innovated, but also the new methods for English teaching have been employed to achieve greater achievements。 However, every coin has two sides。 In a long term, English teachers just focus on teaching the language itself in class while they ignore the negative transfer of different cultures in real communication。 Therefore, it is of great necessity to transfer overemphasizing on teaching language knowledge (especially grammar and vocabulary) into cultivating communicative and comprehensive language competence in English teaching。 In order to meet this demand, studying context should be put in a highlighted position, which means teachers must learn to apply the target language to specific context and inform students that the final goal of English learning is to express ourselves as a native speaker。 In a real teaching situation, teachers are supposed to attach importance to the context in which a text is located and create proper contexts for students, who then will learn to comprehend what‟s the real meaning of the speaker by means of taking part in a real communication。来自优W尔Y论W文C网WWw.YoueRw.com 加QQ7520,18766
