Language plays an important role in the survival and communication of human beings。 Vocal language is essential in language teaching。 It is difficult for us to communicate with other if we do not have enough information。 However, in most cases, communication is hard to proceed smoothly without the help of body language。 Vocal language is an important tool for people to communicate, but not the only way。 Although body language is a kind of silent and nonverbal communication, it plays an irreplaceable role in our daily life。 Some body language, such as gestures, facial expressions and postures, can clearly express the speaker’s deep thoughts。 These body language, just like spoken language, is a very important part in the communicative process and cultural exchange。 English is a headache for Chinese students, but it is also a language, which has an inextricable relationship with body language in the process of use。
The National English Curriculum advocates two teaching methods in middle school teaching。 One is Education based, the other is Communication based。 Both of them are emphasize teachers and students have different roles in the teaching process。 During the process of English teaching, the quality of teaching is affected by many factors, including teaching content, teaching methods, teachers’ knowledge reserves and teaching level, and students’ attitudes, interest and learning skills。 In addition, the performances of the students in the classroom also have a decisive influence on the teaching effect。 In the same classroom, students have little difference in intelligence, but if a student is more conscientious than other students in the class, he or she will get more knowledge and information, and may also get better grades。 In middle school English teaching, if teachers can use body language correctly, like body movements, facial expressions gestures and so on, not only can it attract the students’ attention, make classroom atmosphere active, but also stimulate students’ enthusiasm for learning English, so that to improve English teaching efficiency。

2。1 The Study of Nonverbal Communication at home and aboard
People communicate through a series of spoken language and nonverbal behavior。 Foreign scholars have studied the theory of nonverbal behavior quite well。 When we date back to the history, we can see that Charles Robert Darwin is the first person to study nonverbal behavior in the western countries。 Darwin (1872) holds that human beings can express their emotion through their gestures and facial expressions, and these gestures and facial expressions can be used in interpersonal communication in this book The Expressions of the Emotion in Man and Animals。 American scientists Edward T。 Hall (1959) mentioned about the nonverbal language in his book The Silent Language。 He thought the silent language is more meaningful than the spoken language, and it is much more profound。 The spoken language often hides some of or even most of the meaning of the expressions。 According to the above theory, it is of great significance for human beings to have used nonverbal behavior in the process of communication。 In recent years, the study of the nonverbal behavior in foreign countries has been refined to paralanguage, kinesics, and proxemics and so on, which promote the formation of the new subjects。 论文网
